What's TheIPBox?
TheIPBox is a research and development company specialized in the telecommunications sector, based in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. We design proprietary technology, test it in the field, and place it in the hands of those who can bring it to scale through licenses, partnerships, or spin-offs.
Who leads TheIPBox?
TheIPBox was founded by Riccardo Gori Turci, a telecommunications engineer with over 25 years of experience in the wireless networks sector. He works with an experienced team in software development, artificial intelligence, technical installations, and public relations.
Where does TheIPBox operate, and which markets are its wireless R&D projects active in?
We are based in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. Our infrastructure is active across Europe, and the projects we develop are designed for the European and global market.
What patent-protected innovative projects is TheIPBox developing?
We’re working across five areas: Micro Tower, a compact tower for operators in low-coverage areas; Wirem Lock, a smart access system based on edge AI; SafetyToo, an IoT platform for the safety of people in outdoor environments; the 26 GHz licenses for HAPS stratospheric technologies; and Innotower, an optimal positioning software for telecommunications towers.
Does Wirem Lock require additional hardware?
No, Wirem Lock works with your smartphone and uses the device’s sensors, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, gyroscope, to understand your intention and open automatically. No keys, no physical tokens, nothing to install.
How does SafeyToo work?
SafeyToo is a compact, solar self-powered IoT device that creates connection points in remote areas without network coverage. It transmits position and health data to monitoring platforms and emergency services, and is designed for people who practice outdoor sports, for emergency operators, and for institutions managing hard-to-reach territories.
What are the 26 GHz licenses?
These are government concessions that grant the right to operate on a radio frequency for a defined period. TheIPBox has filed an option to acquire these licenses for the Canary Islands. Whoever holds these licenses can operate advanced connectivity technologies from the stratospheric layer, at around 15,000 meters altitude, with superior performance compared to traditional satellite systems.
Why choose the Canary Islands to develop telecommunications research and development?
The Canary Islands are 100% European territory, with an advantageous tax regime through the ZEC, the Canary Special Zone, which provides for a 4% corporate tax rate. It’s a growing technology hub, with dedicated infrastructure for drones and aerial platforms already operational, and a strategic position between Europe and Latin America. For TheIPBox, it’s also the territory where the problems we’re solving actually exist.

The value it creates lies in the technological assets: patents, architectures, integrated systems.
